THESE ARE THE FAMILY SUNDAYS 2026
Also this summer, the Museum Schloss Bruck in Lienz invites you again to the popular Family Sundays. Three varied programs combine history, art, and creative activities, making the museum a place of experience for children.
1) „Mittelalterlichen Schmuck basteln“
A journey into the world of fashion and jewelry of the Middle Ages
How did people live in the Middle Ages, what did they wear, and what was the significance of jewelry? Children playfully explore these questions in the program "Creating Medieval Jewelry". The starting point is a journey of discovery through Schloss Bruck: In the Knight"s Hall, participants learn exciting facts about medieval clothing, social differences, fabrics, fashion trends, and historical peculiarities.
In the castle chapel, the focus is on jewelry as an expression of wealth, status, and personal significance.
Then the children get creative themselves: With wires, beads, fabrics, and other materials, they create their own pieces of jewelry such as bracelets, necklaces, or wreaths and take them home as a keepsake.
Dates: 26th July / 16th August / each at 14:00
Duration: Approx. 1 - 1 ½ hours
Cost (including admission, program, and materials): € 6.50/per participant
Recommended for ages 6 to 12
2) „Oh! Rigami. Die Kunst des Faltens“
Creativity between exhibition and workshop
The Family Sunday "Oh! Rigami. The Art of Folding" revolves around the art of Origami and the creative connection between exhibition experience and crafting fun. After a joint introduction in the courtyard, children explore the exhibition of the artist Fritz Ruprechter from Matrei in East Tyrol, whose works are characterized by repeated folds. Participants learn what Origami means and how new forms emerge from simple paper through clever folding techniques.
Inspired by the artworks, we then move on to the craft workshop, where various animals are folded, designed, and processed into small mobiles from colorful paper. With cords, beads, and natural materials, individual artworks are created to take home.
Dates: July 19th / August 9th / August 30th / each at 2:00 PM
Duration: Approx. 1 - 1 ½ hours
Cost (including admission, program, and materials): € 6.50/per participant
Recommended for ages 6 to 12
3) „Spiel, Bewegung und Entdecken“
Playing like in the Middle Ages
In addition to the creative workshops, our young visitors can expect a diverse accompanying program with play and interactive stations. In good weather, the castle garden becomes an adventure area with traditional games such as skittles, tug-of-war, sack races, egg races, "Ochs am Berg", number throwing, or "There is a clever fox around". In addition, quiz and puzzle stations invite you to explore knowledge about colors, natural science, the Middle Ages, and life in a castle playfully.
In case of bad weather, the offer will be moved to the tower and supplemented with crafting stations such as cup or treasure chest design. At the end, the children will receive a certificate and take home many new impressions in addition to their self-designed works.
Dates: July 12th / August 2nd / August 23rd / each at 2:00 PM
Duration: Approx. 1 - 1 ½ hours
Cost (including admission, program, and materials): € 6.50/per participant
