A visible sign of quality and sustainability
Extension of the museum quality seal for the Museum Schloss Bruck

On Thursday, October 6, 2016, the Austrian Museum Quality Seal was ceremoniously awarded as part of the Austrian Museum Days in Eisenstadt. At the ceremony in the auditorium of the Burgenland State Museum, museum director Silvia Ebner was able to accept this award for Schloss Bruck for the third time, valid until 2021.

In Austria, there are currently 724 institutions registered as museums in the Austrian Museum Consortium, the museum quality seal highlights particularly outstanding work among these. For East Tyrol, the museum of the city of Lienz represents a spearhead, as it is the only institution in the district that has been awarded this distinction.

Making high-quality and sustainable museum work visible is a key goal of the Austrian Museum Quality Seal. In Austria, the term "museum" is not legally protected and not subject to any regulations. In order to make distinctions visible, ICOM Austria and Museumsbund Austria have been awarding the distinction for quality museum work annually on Austrian Museum Day since 2002, valid for 5 years each.
