Ein großer Umbau und eine Generalsanierung von Schloss Bruck erfolgte 1999/2000 nach Plänen von DI Gerhard Mitterberger (Graz/Lienz). Mitterbergers Konzept: den von Umbauten aus mehreren Jahrhunderten überlagerten mittelalterlichen Baukern wieder freizulegen, auch im Sinne einer Ausstellungs- und Sicherheitstechnik nach gängigen Standards.
A tour of the house that was not possible until now has been created. At the same time, this tour is also a journey through the architectural history, making structural interventions transparent.
In spring 2013, the former Archaeological Department in the west wing was renovated, opened towards the main entrance, and adapted as a new exhibition space for smaller, temporary exhibitions. The renovation of the west facades, windows, lowering of the floor level of the Knights" Hall, and further restoration measures are planned in consultation with the Federal Monuments Office for the years 2013 - 2016. Financial support is provided by the Tyrolean Memory Foundation, the State of Tyrol / Department of Culture, and the Federal Monuments Office.
